Epic Friday: Heading Into Next Week

Little Matt and Teddy have already decided to bravely head into next week.  Ahead of them is, as always, a big blank canvas, and the hope that on the other side are five new comics that don’t exist yet.
Making a daily comic is hard.  Thankfully I have some giant shoulders to stand on.  Where would I be without A.A. Milne and E.H Shepard’s Christopher Robin and Pooh to guide me? Lost, like Piglet in the Hundred Acre Wood.  Dr. Seuss and Charles Schultz – I am always looking back on your stuff for help.   Thank you for guiding me, gentlemen.  And as always, thanks to the Mister G Kids adjunct think-tank: Mike & Zan Olson.
See you on the other side, everyone! Next week, we’ll reflect on six months of Mister G Kids.  And as always, thank you for coming back to enjoy it!

Weekend Kids #11: Generalisimo Gordisimo de Colores MOVES

I was looking at this character in yesterday’s post and laughing because I realized he probably couldn’t walk.  I set out to fix that today.

Epic Friday: ¡Los Monstruitos! Part 2: Camping on Planet 74-E!

Can you find all the friends?
Generalisimo Gordisimo de Colores, BLS-76, The letter “R,”  Trictopus, Candy Floss Bug, Boris J., BLS-76 Operators (2), Teddy, Trumpet Bug, Baby Bunny, The letter “k,” Count Von Elephant Von Rabbit Von Checkers, Referee Bird, and Ghost Lawyer.
Part 1 is here.

Weekend Kids #8: Teddy Time Warp

Some folks have responded well to the character of Teddy, found sprinkled throughout my comics over the years, most recently here and here.  I just thought you might find it cool that Teddy is a stock comic character who’s been with me for over 20 years.
This is a drawing I made in 1991 (you can see the date and an early form of a signature I was trying out on the far right).  This version of Teddy is my brother Mark’s bear – the very fat body with the tiny feet that always made me laugh because he’s so cute and wouldn’t be able to walk if he tried.  Here you can see Teddy doing all sorts of fun things.  Yes, there is even a Hitler teddy in there trying to bring the party down, but that’s not gonna’ happen! Too many Teddies having a good time!
The other cute thing about this Teddy is that he doesn’t have a mouth, so it gives him a profound mime-like quality, like an Emmett Kelly clown, or Mr. Bean.  This is another thing that makes him interesting to draw and put into situations.  Even without a mouth, he can be very expressive, but always observant and interested.
