Today I was teaching a 3rd grade class, and a little line of 1st graders came walking in with notes in their hands.
I was paying attention to the 3rd grader who had the floor at the time, and gave scant notice to these 3 little people handing me notes.
As it turns out, these little guys were sent by their teacher, who earlier had seen that I was on campus. They were the three kids who had really bad behavior in a different class that I taught sometime in the week before Spring Break.
I had forgotten about their bad behavior about five minutes after it happened. But kids remember everything, as I have said.
I turned their notes into little comics, because their apologies are really cute and funny. Plus, if you read carefully you will see the middle note includes a sneaky conditional clause that allows that kid to “be goofy” when I’m NOT there. A future lawyer?
You’ll be sure to notice their grammar mistakes. Don’t forget that they’re six, though. This is actually quite impressive for their age.

Love them, there’s nothing to forgive – that was your job! 😉 So precious! Can never underestimate how much every little action/word can impact on someone’s life. Including the remorse of a child and how it can touch a cynical adults heart.
Ha the apologies may be simple, but don’t anyone tell me any child is born innocent 😉 The first one is only regretting you had to pull him up lol.

I love your comics. I’m going to share them with my wife. She is a teacher. After our daughter was born she stopped working full time, but she subs now that I’m home during the day. She occasionally brings home notes like these after she’s had a particularly interesting class and then teaches at the same school again. Children write some great notes.
Yesterday Kathy came home with a story about a kid who got back from the eye doctor, I made a comic out of it. Maybe I should become a teacher, looks like there is plenty of comic material in it!
so much material! if you are listening for it. i notice some teachers seem immune to the cuteness – how can you not hear their little awesome voices of truth and observation?

I always tell them that: “I forgive you,” when they write those sweet notes. I don’t know what the gym teacher said when one of my students wrote an apology note that reads as follows: “I am sorry for telling you to go suck one.”
wha i hate even more than children are adults who act like them because they stil think they can get what they want in life by lying scheming screaming and bullying
hmm, there are adult babies and babified adults. it’s ok to be immature, but not a bully. i wish adults would be nice to each other. if everyone could do just that one thing they learned in kindergarten…be nice to your neighbor
